Chhattisgarh: Female poll worker dies in road accident in Durg dist

A female election worker died in a road accident under the Kumhari police station in Durg district, Chhattisgarh on Wednesday morning.

According to the information received, the name of the female polling worker was Madhu Banjare.

She was working as Teacher E (LB) in Government Higher Secondary School, Girhola, and her election duty was in Vaishali Nagar Assembly.

On May 7, she and her co-workers completed polling work, deposited EVMs in the strong room, sat at Durg bus stand until 4 am, and left for Raipur on her EV scooter.

An unknown vehicle hit her from behind as she climbed over the Kumhari Overbridge, causing her severe injury.

After the accident, passersby admitted her to the nearby private Apex Hospital, where she succumbed to injuries.

On receiving the information, police reached the spot. The body was kept in Kumhari CSC, from where it was taken to Raipur. Kumhari police are investigating the case.
