China’s ambassador Li Ziming has said there will be no objection if punitive measures are taken against the company China Gezhuba Group Corp (CGGC) as recommended by an inquiry panel over the collapse of a BRT project flyover girder here.
He conveyed this to the Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department ABM Amin Ullah Noori at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The envoy also expressed deep grief over the loss of five lives in the accident.
He said a high-level delegation of the construction contractor has arrived in Bangladesh from China to investigate on behalf of the company.
Authorities arrested nine people including the crane driver in this incident.
Five passengers of a private car were killed when a girder fell from the crane of the BRT project in front of Paradise Tower in Uttara on August 15. The newlyweds in the car were seriously injured but survived. The victims were returning from a wedding ceremony.
