Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing launched extensive search operations on Saturday in two jails in the Valley, including the high-security Central Jail Srinagar, officials said.
They said the searches are being carried out as part of a coordinated exercise to strengthen jail security and check for any illegal activities inside the prison premises.
“Searches are underway in the central jail, Srinagar, and the district jail, Kupwara,” an official said. The CIK has in the past carried out similar raids in several jails to detect possible subversive networks and prevent the misuse of communication devices inside security zones, including jails,
