Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) Chief and the Member of Parliament from north Kashmir Abdul Rashid Sheikh on Friday alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is hand in glove with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Talking to media persons Rashid termed the cabinet resolution demanding J-K’s statehood as contrary to what the National Conference (NC) has been claiming from day one.’
“I want to remind the Chief Minister that he fought the election on the issues of Statehood, Article 370 and 35A, but to pass a resolution only on the restoration of statehood is very painful”, Rashid said.
“NC promised a fight against the abrogation of Article 370 and other related things, but the fact is Omar is deviating from the main issues by focusing on Statehood restoration only,” he said.
He said “it is evident that Omar is hand in glow with the BJP”.
Rashid said the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have promised that statehood to Jammu and Kashmir will be restored, “why then is Omar asking for the same thing, deviating from the issue of Article 370 and 35A is just an eye wash”.
He alleged that “there is something fishy cooking between the BJP and NC or already has been cooked”.
He said the central government has to restore the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir as per the direction of the Supreme Court sooner or later and “Omar just wants to be counted as a martyr on the statehood issue and deviating from the other main issues”.
Rashid asked the Omar-led government to come clear on what would be the capital for his government since the traditional bi-annual practice of Darbar Move has ended in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the Darbar Move practice should continue so that the bonding between the two regions will continue.
In reply to a question, Rashid said the solution to the Jammu and Kashmir problem should happen with the consent of the people.
“If Prime Minister Modi or anyone has any better solution to the problem, they should sit on the table and resolve”, he said.
“Let the people of Kashmir live, let people of India live, and let the People of Pakistan live and let peace prevail in the sub-continent by doing justice with the issue”, Rashid urged.
