Cold wave tightens grip across J&K and Ladakh; Srinagar drops to -2.4°C, Shopian coldest at -4.2°C

The cold wave intensified across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as most areas recorded a further dip in minimum temperatures.

Several parts of the Valley remained below the freezing point, with Shopian emerging as the coldest place at -4.2°C.

In Kashmir Valley, Srinagar shivered at -2.4°C, while the Srinagar Airport area recorded an even lower -3.2°C. Popular tourist resort Gulmarg dropped to -2.5°C, and Pahalgam settled at -0.4°C. Budgam, Baramulla and Pulwama shared the same minimum of -3.1°C, indicating harsh night conditions across central and north Kashmir.

Qazigund and Kupwara both stood at -1.2°C, Pampore at -2.0°C, Awantipora and Anantnag at -1.4°C, Bandipora at -2.2°C, Ganderbal at -2.3°C, and Sonamarg at -2.8°C. Kulgam, however, remained above the freezing mark at 0.8°C. Temperatures at Zojila Pass and Zethan Rafiabad were not available.

In the Jammu region, the winter chill also continued with some areas recording sharp declines. (KINS)
