The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet against four persons in connection with an alleged cheating case involving shawls worth over Rs 2.50 crore, officials said on Thursday.
The chargesheet in a 2022 FIR, registered under Sections 420, 120-B and 201 RPC, was filed before the Court of Sub Judge Small Causes, Srinagar.
Those chargesheeted were identified as Arshid Ahmad Shora alias Bilal of Pakhribal Botakadal, Lalbazar, Srinagar; Firdous Ahmad Mir of Abikarpora, Rainawari, presently residing at Madina Colony near R.P. School, Mallabagh, Srinagar; Firdous Ahmad Bhat of Amda Kadal, Lalbazar, Srinagar; and Aftab Ahmad Shah of Khawabazar, Nowhatta, Srinagar.
According to the Crime Branch, the accused allegedly induced the complainant to supply shawls worth more than Rs 2.50 crore on the promise of lucrative returns but failed to make the payment.
During the investigation, 338 shawls valued at around Rs 68 lakh were recovered and handed over to the complainant on the directions of the court. The investigation has been completed and the charge sheet has been filed before the competent court.
