Delhi Capitals batter Lizelle Lee has been fined 10 per cent of her match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the WPL Code of Conduct during her team’s match against Mumbai Indians at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday.
Lee admitted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment during the course of the match, as per the WPL release.
As per the WPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision for Level 1 breaches is final and binding.
The incident took place in the 11th over of the Capitals’ innings when Lee was adjudged stumped off Amanjot Kaur after a prolonged on-field discussion between the umpires.
The ball, delivered down the leg side, caused Lee to lose her balance while attempting a flick, allowing wicketkeeper Rahila Firdous to complete the stumping.
Following reviews from several camera angles, including the stump cam, the third umpire determined that Lee’s bat was off the ground when the bails were removed.
Lee, who had been in fine form with 46 off 28 deliveries, showed clear frustration as she left the field and continued to protest the decision.
