Following the massive success of Dhurandhar, one of 2025’s biggest Indian box office hits, the makers have confirmed the sequel for an Eid 2026 release, according to Variety.
‘Dhurandhar 2’ is scheduled to hit theaters on March 19, 2026, and will release simultaneously in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, marking a major expansion from the original’s Hindi-only release.
The first film chronicled a decade-long Indian intelligence operation, where an undercover agent infiltrates Karachi’s criminal and political underworld. The sequel is expected to pick up from the cliffhanger ending of the original.
Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film stars Ranveer Singh, with Akshaye Khanna as the antagonist. The ensemble cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Manav Gohil, Danish Pandor, Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera, and Naveen Kaushik.
The decision for a five-language release comes in response to overwhelming demand from South Indian audiences. Despite the first film’s Hindi-only run, ‘Dhurandhar’ gained massive traction across South India through social media buzz and word-of-mouth, prompting the makers to ensure that the sequel reaches audiences in regional languages from day one.
The original Dhurandhar collected INR 730.77 crore (USD 81 million) at the India box office, with overseas earnings reaching INR 186.9 crore (USD 20.8 million), according to Jio Studios.
Currently in post-production, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is shaping up as one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2026, with plans to release in select overseas markets beyond the diaspora audience, as per Variety.
