Jammu, May 27 (UNI) The activists of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena on Friday protested against the price rise of dairy products.
Amidst slogans, the workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of its President Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally in Jammu city against the unprecedented hike in the prices of necessary dairy products.
The price rise has broken the backbone and budget of the common man. The rates of milk, curd and cheese have increased in Jammu division. Milk has become costlier by Rs 9 to 12 per liter while rates have been increased by Rs 10 per kg in curd and Rs 40 per kg in cheese,” said Gupta.
He said cow’s milk will get Rs 46 while buffalo’s will get Rs 60 per liter adding that the standard curd will now be available for Rs 60 and cheese at Rs 290 per kg.
“The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has issued a notification by fixing new prices in the Municipal Corporation,’ he added.
Gupta said price hike of milk will hit the poor consumers who are already reeling under the burden of rising prices of other essential commodities.
“As poor families cannot afford such huge hike of the daily use milk, curd, cheese and can’t feed their children. The food supply department has failed to maintain the quality,” he alleged further stating that the Govt officers are involved with dairy farms and increased the prices by taking heavy amounts of money, to increase the prices.
Gupta however, demanded roll back of the prices.
