Fire damages store near PDP headquarters in Srinagar

A double-storey residential house was partially damaged in a fire incident at Noorbagh Siddiq Colony in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.

An official told news agency JKNS that the fire broke out in the house of Haji Ghulam Mohammad Moona, son of the late Haji Abdul Ahad Moona, a resident of Noorbagh Siddiq Colony. The fire partially damaged the structure before it was brought under control.

He added that as soon as the fire was reported, fire tenders, along with police and local residents, launched a joint rescue operation to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby properties. After extensive efforts, the fire was successfully controlled; however, the upper portion of the house sustained partial damage.

The cause of the fire was identified as an electrical short circuit. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.—(JKNS) Aadil Abdullah
