Drug peddlers apprehended with Poppy Straw in Budgam

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

A Police party intercepted two persons during checking at Malpora crossing, who were carrying bags on shoulders and were on their way to khag. However, on seeing the police party they tried to flee from the spot but were chased tactfully and apprehended. During searches of the bags 13 Kg of Poppy Straw were seized, police said.

The accused identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir and Mohammad Shafi Wani were taken into custody.

A case under relevant sections of law registered at Police Station Khag and investigation set into motion.
