Dr Farooq Abdullah, president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, on Friday expressed confidence that opposition parties would emerge victorious in Assembly elections across three major states—West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.
Speaking to reporters at Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar, Farooq Abdullah said Mamata Banerjee would retain power in West Bengal, while the Indian National Congress was poised to win in Kerala.
He also predicted victory for M. K. Stalin’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu, describing the anticipated outcomes as a “blessing.”
Addressing international developments, Dr Farooq Abdullah stressed the urgent need for peace in the Middle East, warning that prolonged conflict could have serious global consequences. He urged world leaders, including those of the United States, China, and Russia, to work collectively towards ending the war swiftly.
Commenting on the Centre’s anti-drug initiative, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, said that public participation is crucial in tackling the drug menace.
He said government efforts alone would not suffice without active support from families and communities, particularly parents, to effectively curb substance abuse.(KINS)
