Fog Halts Flights On Fourth Day Today, Kashmir Likely To Receive Rain, Snow

Srinagar: The smoggy weather conditions on Tuesday continued to suspend the all flight operations in Kashmir for the fourth straight day while as the local Meteorological department here has predicted rains and snow across Kashmir from Wednesday.

According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Director Airport Authority of India (AAI), Srinagar, Santosh Dhoke said that all the flights scheduled to and from Srinagar Airport have been cancelled today as well.

“The fog that engulfed Kashmir from last four consecutive days have forced the cancellation of all the flights,” he said, adding that the decision for the flight operations will be taken once the weather conditions improve.

However, a MeT spokesman said that the night temperature across Kashmir has increased with Srinagar recording minus 2.6 degree Celsius.

He said that the chill and smoggy weather conditions across Kashmir will likely come to an end from Wednesday evening as there is possibility that the three-day wet spell will begin from the evening.

Earlier on Monday, Deputy Director MeT, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad had said, “There is a possibility of rains and snow across Kashmir from December 11 to December 13. The main activity would likely occur on Dec 12 and 13.”

He had said that there will be significant improvement in the smoggy weather conditions from tomorrow, adding that as compared to yesterday, the situation has improved a lot. (KNO)
