Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) spokesman Thursday paid glowing tributes to the Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Abu Qasim who was “martyred” in a gunfight with Indian forces in Khandaypora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district,.

In a statement issued to KNS, the spokesman while paying tributes to Abu Qasim said it was because of the sacrifices of martyrs like him that Kashmir issue had attracted international attention.

The spokesman said the continued sacrifices people of Kashmir were offering was a proof that Kashmiris would not rest until they get their right to self-determination.

He appealed people to show steadfastness and remain united in their pursuit of the right to self-determination.

Meanwhile, a high-level delegation of the APHC comprising of Muhammad Musadiq Adil, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Abdul Majeed Wani, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Engineer Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, Parvez Ahmad Dar and Adnan Kashmiri visited Amarbug Shopian to pay tributes to Manan Ahmad Dar, who was martyred in a gunfight with forces at Daelgam Pulwama last week.

On the occasion, the Huriryat leaders paid tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the right to self-determination of Kashmiris and said their sacrifices were the real treasure of the Kashmir’s resistance movement.

They said Kashmir issue was pending for resolution for the past seven decades and the pending issue had held peace in the entire region hostage and kept the nuclear neighbours India and Pakistan in a confrontation mode for all these years.

The Hurriyat leaders said the entire region would not witness peace until Kashmir issue was not resolved as per the United Nations resolutions or tripartite talks on Kashmir and according to the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

They paid glowing tributes to the strength and resolve shown by the parents and families of the youth who sacrificed their lives while fighting Indian forces for the greater Kashmir cause.

The Hurriyat leaders also appealed the international community to play a role in the resolution of Kashmir issue considering the gross human rights violations witnessed by Kashmiris during the past seven decades in general and for the past 25 years in particular.

Condemning the use of excessive force on peaceful protestors by police and Indian forces in entire south Kashmir, they said the so-called government and civil administration had given a free hand to the Police and Indian forces for carrying state-sponsored terrorism. (KNS)
