I-Day: Strengthen interstate border security grid: SSP Kathua

Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua, Ramesh Kotwal on Tuesday advocated for strengthening inter-state border security along the national highways, border and hinterland.

Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir shares a border with neighbouring Punjab and Himachal Pradesh states.

Chairing a meeting, Kotwal advised the participants to strengthen the interstate border security grid, National Highways and Border security grid for peaceful conduct of forthcoming national events.

Police officers from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh also attended the meeting.

The top cop also advised to have coordination at SDPOs and SHOs level, share information about interstate drug peddlers, bovine smugglers, history sheeters, notorious elements and enhance patrolling on Inter-State borders.

“Layout joint nakas and conduct checking of vehicles originating from Border and NHWs to foil the nefarious designs of anti-national and anti-social elements,” Kotwal said in a meeting.

Moreover, representatives of Army and CAPF were also requested to depute their manpower for joint Cordon and Search Operation and anti-tunneling exercises along the IB which are being conducted regularly besides monitoring of drone activities in the border area.

The SSP further stressed upon the officers to step up vigil and security in the district to check any attempt of infiltration, drone dropping and movement of anti national elements.
