Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Thursday said the Indian Army is steadily transforming into a future-ready force, stressing that indigenously developed equipment has become a strategic necessity.
Speaking after the Army Day parade in Jaipur, General Dwivedi said the Army is preparing not only for present challenges but also for future wars through new structures, modern technology and agile units such as the Bhairav Battalion and Shakti Baan Regiment.
He said the parade reflected a blend of tradition and transformation, with a strong focus on “Made in India” equipment, underlining the Army’s push for self-reliance. Emphasising lessons from the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Army Chief noted that future wars could be short or prolonged, making adaptability, research and development, and domestic manufacturing crucial.
General Dwivedi said the Indian Army remains fully prepared to counter any threat and will continue to evolve in line with changing battlefield realities.(KINS)
