Jammu (UNI): To ensure that students take the right courses and prepare for future studies and career options while inculcating habits that are essential to achieve success in a particular field, the Directorate of School Education, Jammu on Thursday through its counselling cell organised a Career conference for 10th and 12th class passouts.
More than 20000 students and 500 schools were counselled live by career guidance experts virtually and many more got benefitted through other social media platforms of the Directorate, said an official.
Career Mentor Founder and CEO Psyuni India, Dr. Ashutosh Srivastava, Dr Ravinder Jangral, Assistant Coordinator JK Samagra Shiksha, Ajay Thapa, Senior Lecturer Mechanical Engineer Department and Dushyant Singh, Career Counselling Officer District E&C Centre Jammu were amongst the expert panellists who guided the students in an appropriate way.
The Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma emphasised on the recognition of capabilities, skills and interest of the students while deciding on taking up a field as a career option.
He appreciated the initiative of Counselling Cell DSEJ and said that such conferences help the students to select the right kind of career which not only suits the student’s skill sets but also allows them to excel in their fields and Counselling Cell DSEJ has is leaving no stone unturned to accomplish this objective
He highlighted various Government schemes and added that the students must be well acquainted with them so as to avail the opportunities being provided to them.
Joint Director, DSEJ, Subah Mehta, motivated the students by sharing her own life story.
She discussed various Government schemes with the students, their parents and staff and staff members and said that SWOT Analysis must be followed in schools. She stressed upon the recognition of interests, strengths and weaknesses of students.
The experts dealt with the queries of students and discussed various schemes, new projects, vocational courses and technical courses etc.
Counselling Cell DSEJ head, Dr Romesh Kumar asked all HOIs of HS/HSS to develop counselling Centres in alliance with the districts so as to fulfill student’s aspirations by setting up realistic goals.
Dr Alka Sharma moderated the session whereas Preeti Sharma Member Counselling Cell DSEJ presented the formal Vote of thanks.
