At least four residential houses and a godown were gutted in separate fire incidents across Kashmir Valley, Fire and Emergency Service officials said on Monday.
The Fire and Emergency officials said in a major fire incident that erupted at Babudeen Chowk in the Nowhatta area of Srinagar early in the morning, during which three residential houses were gutted.
They said the fire erupted in a residential house around 5 am in the morning and engulfed other nearby houses, causing extensive damage to three houses at Nowhatta.
About a dozen firefighting engines were pressed into service from various fire stations in the city centre to extinguish the leaping flames.
A residential house was gutted in another fire incident that occurred at Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district overnight, causing damage to the property.
At Ratherpora Padshahibagh Srinagar, a godown was damaged in a fire incident during the overnight blaze, they said.
