At least 20 pilgrims were injured on Wednesday when a minibus they were travelling in met with an accident and fell into a gorge near Billawar in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said a bus ferrying pilgrims from Samba to Sukrala Mata Temple in Billawar met with an accident this morning, just a few kilometres short of Billawar town.
“The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into a gorge,” they said.
Police teams, along with locals, immediately swung into action and began a rescue operation.
“Around 20 pilgrims have suffered injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment,” police said.
A cognizance has been taken of the incident.
