Nearly two weeks ahead of the ruling National Conference’s proposed Delhi protest, more than 150 representatives from various sections of J&K’s civil society on Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution calling upon the union Government to restore full statehood to Jammu & Kashmir without any further delay.
The meeting was presided over by NC President Farooq Abdullah and party Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
“The gathering unanimously adopted a resolution calling upon the union government to restore full statehood to Jammu & Kashmir without any further delay. The resolution reflects the collective and unanimous voice of the civil society representatives present at the meeting, reaffirming the broad-based demand for the immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu & Kashmir,” NC statement said.
Omar Abdullah thanked all the representatives of civil society of Kashmir who accepted the invitation.
“..The meeting was extremely productive & Dr Sahib was able to get a lot of useful feedback and good suggestions. The meeting passed a unanimous resolution calling on the union Government to fulfil its promise & restore FULL statehood to J&K without further delay,” Omar said on X.
NC is gearing for the protest to demand statehood, at Jantar Mantar scheduled for July 20—first day of monsoon session. The party is going to invite INDIA bloc and J&K leaders to participate in the Delhi protest.
The ruling NC has started preparations for the Delhi protest and has been holding several meeting with party leaders.
