The Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Monday advocated for adequate use of modern gadgets to augment security.
Singh was interacting with the Police and CISF officers and Jawans deployed for the annual Machail yatra in mountainous Kishtwar district during a review meeting of Kishtwar and Ramban districts.
He was flanked by ADGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh, SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain and other officers.
“Work in tandem for the safe and secure pilgrimage being held after a gap of two years due to Covid pandemic,” Singh said.
He emphasized making adequate use of modern gadgets and technology including CCTVs, drones to further augment the security of the district and directed for continuing actions against anti-national elements.
“Surveillance be maintained 24×7 enroute pilgrimage and security cover be spread over important places, including the ‘langars’ (community kitchens),” Singh said and directed officers to ensure that all the basic amenities and assistance be provided to the yatris in need.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police in perfect synergy with all sister agencies have so far successfully conducted the ongoing Amarnath yatra which is in its last stage and stressed for the same synergy among all stakeholders for the Machail yatra as well.
He directed that quick response be provided for immediate assistance to the pilgrims as and when required.
The police chief also took an aerial survey of the far-flung areas of the Kishtwar district.
Later, he paid obeisance at the Machail Mata temple and prayed for the peace and welfare of the people.
Singh also interacted with the local people and congratulated them for their warm welcome and hospitality for the pilgrims.
He assured them that all issues pertaining to Police will be sorted out on priority and those pertaining to administration will be conveyed to them.
Notably, the annual Machail Yatra started on July 25 and will culminate on September 5, 2022.
Meanwhile at the District Police Office Kishtwar, the DGP appreciated the good work of Kishtwar Police for maintaining peace and order and directed the officers to take stringent action against all those people involved in heinous crimes and those involved in drug peddling.
SSP Kishtwar briefed him about the overall security scenario of the district and regarding the arrangements being made for the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations and festival of Raksha Bandhan.
The DGP also visited Delta Force Headquarters, Ramban where he had detailed interaction with the GOC Major General Ajay Kumar, DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, Sunil Gupta, SSP Ramban Mohita Shrama and other territorial officers regarding security scenarios and highway security measures.
