J&K Police rescue abducted woman from Rajasthan, Kidnapper held

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed that it has successfully rescued an abducted woman and apprehended the accused from Rajasthan.

Police said in a significant event, police in Kupwara successfully rescued an abducted woman and apprehended the accused from Rajasthan following a swift and diligent investigation into a kidnapping case reported earlier this month.

They said on November 20, 2024, Police Post Bazaar received a written complaint from one Manzoor Ahmad Mir a resident of Doniwari Lolab stating that on November 12, 2024, while he and his wife were at SDH Hospital, his wife was abducted by one Asif Ahmad Bhat a resident of Alchizebh Kupwara.

The complainant also stated that the accused used a motorcycle to carry out the abduction.

Based on the complaint, a case vide FIR No. 267/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kupwara and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the accused along with the abductee had gone into hiding to evade arrest.

Acting on this information, a police team was constituted, which successfully tracked and recovered the abducted woman from the custody of the accused in Rajasthan.

The accused was immediately taken into custody. The accused has been brought back to Kupwara, and further investigation into the case is going on.
