J&K: Suspected IED found, defused in Bandipora Srinagar road

Date:

Security Forces detected and defused a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district this morning, officials said on Wednesday.

This marks the fourth such device found since Sunday.

Officials said a suspicious IED was detected along the Bandipora-Srinagar highway near “Sunset Point” at around 9 am by the road opening party of the forces.

The bomb disposal team was immediately called, and the traffic on the Srinagar Bandipora road was also blocked.

“The suspected IED was later defused, after which the traffic was allowed to ply on the road,” a security official said.

Security forces have recovered and neutralised three IEDs in Kashmir since Sunday.

The first IED in this recent string of discoveries was found on Sunday in the forested region of Kupwara, near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir. After the recovery of IED in Kupwara, the army said that they averted a terror incident.

A day later, another IED was detected and defused in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district at Qaimoh.

On Tuesday, security forces recovered and neutralised an IED in the Shopian district of South Kashmir.
