Srinagar: “The spree of arrests, nocturnal raids, manipulations and other undemocratic acts for making a bogus operation named as municipal elections a success is ridiculous and condemnable,” said Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Wednesday while strongly condemning the arrest of its zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal, zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and others.
JKLF in a statement issued to GNS said police last night raided the residence of Noor Muhammad Kalwal and took him in custody.
Police today morning raided the residence of zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and took him in custody too, JKLF said adding police since yesterday evening is summoning JKLF zonal vice president Muhammad Yasin Butt to police station Nigeen.
JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik is in police custody from October 2 while as party’s vice chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi is also in custody since October 7, JKLF said adding that party leaders Siraj-Ud -din Mir, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Abdul Rashid Magloo and Assadullah Sheikh are also incarcerated under PSA and lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu.
While condemning the spree of arrests, nocturnal raids and summons, JKLF has said that “to make a bogus operation named as municipal and panchayat elections, Indian rulers and their abettors in Kashmir have unleashed a reign of terror”.
“Despite oppressive measures, manipulations and other undemocratic acts Indian rulers and their abettors have failed to lure people of Kashmir and a complete boycott of these farce elections should serve as an eye-opener for them,” party said.
Meanwhile, JKLF has paid glowing tributes to “great martyr” Mushtaq Ahmad Khan of Batamaloo who was killed on 10 October 1990.
Terming Mushtaq Khan as a gallant son of soil, JKLF said, “Martyrs like Mushtaq Shaheed are our real heroes and this nation is indebted to their struggle and sacrifices. JKLF is inheritor of these great souls and sacrifices and we pray to Allah Almighty for the success of the sacred mission of these martyrs.” (GNS)
