The Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC) processed a record 2,381 permanent registrations last year, marking an 80 per cent increase over 2024.
JKMC- the statutory body responsible for regulating the practice of medicine in Jammu and Kashmir- said that 2025 was marked as a year of unprecedented growth and excellence in medical registration and professional development, processing a record 2,381 total permanent registrations.
“This represents a significant 80 per cent increase from 1,324 in 2024, underscoring the Council’s commitment to bolstering healthcare workforce capacity in the region,” said JKMC president S Muhammad Salim Khan.
He said JKMC issued 939 Foreign (FMG) Permanent Registrations in 2025, more than doubling the 584 from the previous year, alongside 1,252 J&K medical college passouts’ permanent registrations, 190 Permanent Reciprocal registration due to the fact that all doctors from outside Jammu and Kashmir visiting J&K for various services are asked to register with J&K Medical Council mandatorily.
JKMC president said it also includes doctors from across the country selected for various higher courses under PG NEET and DNB courses in medical colleges/ institutions in J&K.
Khan said additional registrations reached 1,045, reflecting heightened demand for qualifications and mobility.
The Council also issued 783 No Objection Certificates (NOCs), 231 Good Standing certificates, and facilitated 125 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, enhancing professional standards.
From 2021 to 2025, JKMC handled 6,082 total permanent registrations, with 2025 contributing nearly 40% of the five-year total.

“This surge highlights JKMC’s efficient operations across its Jammu and Srinagar offices,” Khan said, adding that JKMC remains dedicated to upholding the highest ethical and regulatory standards for medical professionals in Jammu and Kashmir.
