Karra reaches Delhi, likely to discuss party matters, with Congress top leadership

Date:

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra has arrived in New Delhi on Monday, where he is expected to meet senior Congress leaders to discuss party matters, the current political situation in Jammu and Kashmir, and future strategies for the Union Territory.

Party insiders say Karra’s visit is important as the Congress high command is actively engaging with party members in J&K and seriously considering their feedback.

“The role of Congress in Jammu and Kashmir and key party issues will be discussed with the central leadership,” a senior Congress leader, speaking anonymously, told news agency KINS.

Before leaving for Delhi, Karra expressed concerns over unresolved public grievances, warning that they are weakening people’s trust in the democratic process. “People feel their expectations have not been met even after participating in the electoral process,” Karra said at a press conference in Srinagar on Sunday.

He urged the National Conference-led government to take immediate steps to address these issues and reaffirmed Congress’s demand for the restoration of statehood. “If you want the system for which elections were fought to function effectively, its foundations must be strengthened through statehood restoration,” he stressed.(KINS) Ishtiyaq Kar
