Kashmir Inter District Women’s Cricket Championship Commences At Ganderbal

Srinagar:-Continuing with its efforts to encourage sports in the Kashmir Valley, the Army, in association with J&K Women’s Cricket Association, launched the much awaited 2nd Kashmir Inter District Women’s Cricket Championship 2018 on 09th October 2018. The tournament is being conducted at Govt College of Physical Education (GCOPE), Gadura and 11 teams from all parts of the Kashmir Valley are participating in it.

The opening ceremony of the Championship was witnessed by numerous military and civil dignitaries including DDC Ganderbal, SSP Ganderbal, CEO Ganderbal, President JKWCA and Principal GCOPE apart from a large gathering of locals and students.

The inaugural match was won by Women College, Srinagar, who defeated the team from Green Valley Educational Institute by a margin of 40 runs.

Such tournaments will contribute immensely towards women empowerment as they encourage the young girls to showcase their sporting spirit, talent and dedication towards the game and further help in breaking the stereotype prevalent in the society.
