SIA Books Editor Anuradha Bhasin in FIR Over Alleged Anti-National Activities
The State Investigation Agency of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday conducted a raid at the Kashmir Times office in Jammu after alleging that the publication has been involved in anti-national activities and spreading disaffection against the country.
Official sources said that the SIA has formally registered a First Information Report naming Anuradha Bhasin, the Editor of Kashmir Times, in connection with the allegations. According to officials, the case has been initiated to examine her purported links and activities that could “threaten the sovereignty” of India.
Sources said the investigative team inspected documents, digital records and editorial material as part of the ongoing probe. The agency is looking into content flagged during preliminary scrutiny for allegedly promoting narratives deemed seditious or separatist.
Officials stated that the raid is part of a broader campaign aimed at countering networks accused of propagating anti-India sentiments. They added that there must be no space for misuse of platforms to advance separatist ideologies or influence vulnerable audiences.
The SIA, which has been leading several high-profile investigations across the Union Territory in recent months, said the probe will continue and further actions will be taken based on the evidence gathered during Thursday’s operation.
Sources said the agency is expected to summon individuals connected to the publication as part of the next phase of the investigation. The matter has already drawn attention within media circles due to the involvement of a prominent editor and one of the Valley’s oldest newspapers. (CNS)
