The Meteorological Centre Srinagar (MeT) has issued a detailed weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, indicating a spell of rain, snowfall and gusty winds over the coming days, particularly in higher reaches of the Union Territory.
According to MeT, January 30 will witness light rain or snowfall at a few higher reaches. From January 31 to February 1, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snowfall over higher reaches, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds at many places.
The weather from February 2 to 3 is likely to stay generally cloudy, with light rain or snowfall over higher reaches scattered to many places. Thereafter, from February 4 to 6, the region is expected to experience partly cloudy conditions till the evening of February 6.
On February 7, MeT has forecast generally cloudy weather with light rain or snowfall at a few places, while February 8 to 10 is likely to remain generally dry across Jammu and Kashmir.
The MeT has advised travellers and transporters to confirm road and highway status from concerned traffic authorities and strictly follow administrative advisories.
Farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations for the next seven days due to adverse weather conditions.
The general public, especially those in snow-bound higher reaches, has been cautioned not to venture into sloppy and avalanche-prone areas.(KINS)
