Mamata accuses BJP of setting central agencies against TMC ;

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday hit out at the BJP over the alleged misuse of Central agencies targeting ruling Trinamool Congress and criticised the ECI for “favouring” the saffron brigade.

She threatened to go on a hunger

strike outside

the Commission if there is a single riot in the state.

Addressing a TMC electioneering at Alipurduar in north Bengal,

chairman of the TMC threatened to undertake a hunger strike outside

the ECI office for 55 days if

the situation needed.

“If I can fast for farmers for 26 days (at

Singur), I can go on a hunger strike for 55 days outside the ECI

office as well,” Banerjee reiterated.

She also accused the BJP leaders of allegedly threatening the

opposition to put them into the jails.

“Even today, just based on BJP’s instructions, the DIG of Murshidabad

was changed. Now, if there are riots in Murshidabad and Malda, the

responsibility will lie with the Election Commission. The BJP wanted

to change the police officers to trigger riots and violence. If there

is even one riot, the ECI will be responsible as they are looking

after law and order here,” she said.

The TMC supremo said she would conduct a hunger strike outside the EC

office for 55 days if needed.

She also pointed out that Income Tax officials on Sunday conducted a

raid and searched his (National General Secy Abhishek Banerjee)

chopper before the trial run but found nothing.

“Those I-T officials claimed that we have inputs that there is money

& gold in the chopper, but they found nothing,” the TMC said in a

statement quoting the party

supremo.

” We don’t engage in such acts. It’s the BJP that does and did any

Central security official dare to check BJP leaders’ choppers?” asked

Banerjee.

She also accused the BJP of misusing central agencies and not allowing

a “level playing field for all political parties,” in the elections.

“The BJP might use the NIA just days before the first phase of the

election to arrest our leaders so that they can have a free run,” she

said.
