Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti hit hard to BJP on Monday over rising militant attacks in erstwhile peaceful areas of Pir Panchal region.
She condemned the attack on the India Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch, in which an air warrior died and several others sustained injuries.
“There was no militancy earlier in the Pir Panjal area,” Mufti told media persons. She said since the BJP took charge of the areas that were not affected by the militancy and peace and prosperity were there, now high-profile officers are getting killed there in militancy incidents.
“They (BJP) should answer, when they are often claiming that militancy has ended in Jammu and Kashmir, why such incidents are happening here,” the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister questioned.
“We condemn the terrorist attack on the Air Force worriers,” she said, and “it is a very hurtful incident as the officer was supposed to celebrate the birthday of his son,” the PDP president said.
