Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday visited the family of 21-year-old Parvez Ahmed in Jammu’s Nikki Tawi area, demanding a judicial probe into his killing in an alleged staged police encounter in Surey Chak on July 24.
Terming the incident as part of a larger pattern of violence against the Gujjar-Bakerwal community, the J&K Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) president accused the machinery of targeting the nomadic population. “Parvez Ahmed was killed in cold blood by those entrusted with protecting him. This was a fake encounter and a glaring example of state-sponsored terror,” Mufti said.
She categorically rejected the claims linking Parvez to drug peddling and warned that repeated incidents like these are eroding public faith in the justice system. “We demand a time-bound judicial inquiry to hold the guilty accountable and restore public trust,” she said, assuring full support to the victim’s family.(KINS)
