The Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir until July 26, with a heightened alert for intense showers and gusty winds between July 21 and 23.
According to MeT officials, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected across the Union Territory until July 20. From July 21 to 23, the region is likely to witness cloudy weather accompanied by intermittent spells of light to moderate rainfall. Intense showers, gusty winds, and isolated heavy rainfall are also expected during this period.
News agency KINS reported that officials have warned of the possibility of flash floods at vulnerable locations, along with landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in hilly areas. A rise in the water levels of rivers, streams, and local nallahs may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas.
From July 24 to 26, brief spells of rain may occur at scattered places across Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the department has advised farmers to take advantage of the relatively calmer weather from July 18 to 20 to spray their orchards.(KINS)
