JK Govt Announces Seven-Day Mourning, Holiday Tomorrow

Srinagar: As a mark of respect to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Former Prime Minister of India who passed away at AIIMS Hospital New Delhi today, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided all Offices/Boards/Corporations and Educational Institutions shall remain closed tomorrow in the memory of departed soul

According to an order issued here, there will be State Mourning for seven days from 16 to 22 August 2018 (both days inclusive); (ii) the National and State Flags shall fly at half mast during the state mourning on all buildings and places where these are flown regularly; (iii) there shall be no official entertainment during the period of State Mourning; and besides State Government Offices/Boards/Corporations and Educational Institutions shall remain closed on 17° August, 2018 in the memory of departed soul.

“The above decisions are brought to the notice of all the concerned for information and necessary action,” the order according to GNS added.

Meanwhile, Governor N.N. Vohra is leaving for New Delhi to pay homage and attend the funeral of Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister, with whom he had served for several years, during the period he was carrying out a dialogue with all segments in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. (GNS)
