Under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking by attaching properties worth crores in separate cases in Srinagar and Anantnag districts of the Kashmir Valley.
Police said immovable properties worth over Rs 2 crore belonging to notorious drug peddlers were attached in the Chanapora and Qamarwari areas of Srinagar.
In one of the actions, police attached a double-storey residential house with an attic, valued at around Rs 1 crore, belonging to accused Huzaif Shabir Dar of Budshahnagar, Chanapora.
During the course of investigation, it was conclusively established that the property had been acquired through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking.
Accordingly, the property was attached under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
The attachment proceedings were carried out strictly in accordance with due legal procedure and in the presence of independent witnesses.
Police Post Qamarwari also attached a double-storey residential house belonging to Notorious drug peddler Basit Ahmad Baba alias Aikan of Barthana Qamarwari under relevant sections.
The immovable property, recorded in the name of his father and has an estimated market value of more than Rs one crore. The action forms part of J&K Police’s continued efforts to dismantle the financial networks of drug peddlers by targeting assets acquired through illicit narcotics trade.
Meanwhile, Police have also attached immovable property worth approximately Rs 2.5 Crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
The attached property includes one double-storied residential house, one shopping complex comprising 20 shops, Land measuring One Kanal and Six Marlas.
The property belonged to Javid Ahmad Rather, resident of Waghama.
The attachment has been carried out under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after completion of due legal formalities.
The estimated market value of the seized property is approximately Rs 2.5 Crore, said police.
J&K Police reiterated its firm commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and to take stringent action against individuals involved in narcotics trafficking.
