The Jammu and Kashmir Police has recovered nearly 300 kilograms of explosives from Faridabad, Haryana, following disclosures made by an arrested Kashmiri doctor, with officials describing the seized substance as “explosive IED-making material so far.”
Last week, the J&K Police busted a major terror module by arresting two Kashmiri doctors from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh and Faridabad in Haryana.
One of the arrested doctors, identified as Aadil Ahmad Rather, is a resident of Qazigund in South Kashmir. Police had earlier recovered a rifle from a locker belonging to one of the doctors at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag.
While the police have not officially confirmed the recovery of explosives from Faridabad, sources said that nearly 300 kilograms of explosive material were seized following questioning of the doctor, who was working at a private hospital outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources added that the police are also searching for a third doctor, believed to be part of the same network, who is currently absconding.
The module was uncovered during an investigation into posters appearing in Srinagar in support of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Examination of CCTV footage helped police identify one of the doctors, whose interrogation led to the arrest of another medical professional involved in the case.
