NEET Amid COVID-19: Students In Valley ‘Dissatisfied’ Of Their Performances In Entrance Test

Srinagar: Scores of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirants of Kashmir Monday expressed resentments over holding the exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic saying they were not satisfied with their overall performances, citing the fear and psychological disturbances major reasons of poor performances.

The students said they could have performed better, however, due to fear of getting infected of COVID-19, they couldn’t attempt all questions.

One of the candidates told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that as per her preparations, she couldn’t perform well in the exams due to fear of getting infected.

She, however also said that the arrangements inside the examination center was well but no Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) outside were being followed.

“In the NEET exams, I was expecting to attempt at least 155 questions, but a fear of getting infected created a psychological disturbance among many students, thus couldn’t perform well,” she said.

The candidate said that it was her first attempt for the NEET exams.

She also said, “My examination center was in SSM College at Padshahi Bagh area of Soitang Srinagar and a good arrangement was made for the students inside, however outside the center, no SOP’s were being followed by the students and their relatives that makes me scared.”

Another student who also appeared in the entrance test on Sunday also said that he had prepared well but was disturbed due to the ongoing crises of COVID-19.

“There was no issue of arrangements made by the authorities, but subconsciously the mind was diverted and fear of catching the infection affected my overall performance in the exams,” he said.

He said that it was his second attempt for NEET, “This time I was well prepared but fear of COVID-19 affected my overall performance. I attempted only 140 questions, however, I was expecting to attempt at least 170.”

Pertinently, 18689 aspirants from Kashmir valley on Sunday aspirants appeared for  NEET exams amid COVID-19 pandemic—(KNO)
