NSCN(K) Declared Terror Outfit by Government

New Delhi: The Government today declared the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) a terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, giving the security agencies sweeping powers to clampdown and criminalise funding, opening offices and abetting secessionist activities.

The moves comes after five months of NSCN(K) attack on Indian army patrol in which 18 personnel were killed.

In a deadly reprisal five days later, Indian army commandos also had destroyed two NSCN(K) camps across the India-Myanmar border and killed more that 50 militants.
