Srinagar: Keeping its youth sensitization program alive, Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) youth wing Sunday held an informal interaction with youth in winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. A group of over a hundred youth from Srinagar, City put forth their grievances to which PDP youth president, Waheed Ur Rehman Para gave a patient hearing and also detailed the ways to solve the genuine problems faced by them. The young lot, who are in their middle of academic careers, were almost first timers to hold such an interaction expressed helplessness in capitalising on their studies so as to find employment.

One of the youth, who is in his first year studying Science said, “we have FIRs registered against us and are unable to move ahead in education as our future seems bleak.”

The discussion also revealed how these youth face problems in getting their passports while they were unaware about various employment schemes launched by government.

The youth were honest enough to reveal it that there was no one to show path to progressive and fruitful future. “We have lost way and we are unable to move forward as there is no concrete youth policy from government side which could solve our problems,” the youth said. While deciphering PDP’s way of solving problems confronting youth, Waheed Ur Rehman Para, told the aggrieved youth that “his party stands by them all the time”.

“Our party’s sole agenda is to involve youth in development of J&K and it stands by them,” Para, told the audience in the meeting. “We have not come here to seek votes or make our political statements. We are already in government and have six years at our disposal and J&K’s youth is our top priority,” he said.

While asking youth to stress on education and work hard to get good results, Para assured them on behalf of PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti, “we shall hold employment workshops in the area to inform and acquaint youth with various schemes which have been launched by the government so that you are benefitted.” Giving them assurance that cases registered against them shall be reviewed, Para told the aggrieved youth, “Mehbooba Ji shall be personally intervening in the issue and certainly we will see how these cases are withdrawn.”

Waheed impressed upon the youth to make full and positive use of social media. “We are living in such an age where social media is inevitable and you should use it to communicate your grievances,” he told them. “We are at your disposal 24*7.”  Arif Laigroo, Shahnawaz, Majid Khan and Ahmad Rasool also addressed the gathering of youngsters.
