As part of their ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse, the Baramulla police have arrested three drug peddlers and seized various contraband substances from their possession.
A police team, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Baramulla, intercepted a man at a checkpoint in Khawajabagh. Upon searching him, 60 Alprazolam tablets and 29 Pacitane tablets were recovered. The suspect was identified as Sarfaraz Ahmad Dar, son of Sonaullah Dar, a resident of Kralhar, Baramulla.
In another operation, a police team from Police Station Boniyar stopped a suspicious individual at a checkpoint in Banali Boniyar. A search revealed 54 grams of heroin-like substance in his possession. The suspect was identified as Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh, son of Gh Hassan, a resident of Dudran.
Meanwhile, a police team from Police Post Wagoora intercepted Jahangir Ahmad Shah, son of Mehraj-ud-Din, at Takiya Wagoora. During the search, 30 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from him.
All three suspects have been arrested and shifted to their respective police stations. Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered, and investigations are underway.
The police have urged the public to report any drug-related activities or other crimes by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112. They assured the community that they remain committed to taking strict action against drug peddlers and other criminals.(KINS)
