Reiterating its unwavering commitment to public safety and community-centric policing, police organised Mega Traffic Awareness programmes in parts of Ganderbal, Handwara and Kulgam.
In Ganderbal, Police organised a Mega Traffic Awareness Programme in the jurisdiction of PS Safapora and Police Post Nagbal. Students from Govt. Higher Secondary School Safapora and Govt. Boys High School Shuhama, Nagbal attended the programme. Teachers, locals, and community representatives also joined the programme with great enthusiasm.
In Handwara, a Mega Traffic Awareness Programme was organised with the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Zachaldara at Main Chowk, Zachaldara. Students, teachers, and locals also participated in the programme.
In Kulgam, Police organised a Mega Traffic Awareness Programme at multiple locations across the district, including Kulgam town, Yaripora, Qaimoh, Behibagh, and other areas. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various educational institutions, teachers, transporters, and local residents.
SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS said, ensuring road safety is a shared responsibility. Through such awareness campaigns, our objective is to educate the youth and general public about the importance of discipline and responsibility on the roads.
During these awareness programmes, police officers delivered detailed lectures on the Motor Vehicle Act, traffic regulations, and road safety protocols. They highlighted the risks of reckless driving, over-speeding, and use of mobile phones while on the road. Special emphasis was laid on the importance of wearing helmets, seat belts, and following traffic signals for saving lives. The youth were particularly encouraged to embrace their role as “Road Safety Ambassadors” by spreading awareness among peers and community members.
These Mega Traffic Awareness Programmes forms part of the broader series of outreach and public safety campaigns launched by Police to foster civic responsibility, legal awareness, and mutual trust between the police and the community.(JKNS)
