Former Chief Minister and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Saturday accused J&K police of trying to create fear among the people ahead of the polls.

“Nowadays, the police are calling elders and youths and telling them they were with the Hurriyat or with this group or that. In reality, they are trying to create fear among you. We do not have to fear them as tomorrow their pride will go away,” Abdullah told a rally in the Hazratbal area of the city.

The NC president urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to stop harassing people.

“If you think that by using police to harass our people, you (BJP) will win elections, you will lose the elections by such things and Inshallah you are losing elections. Not only in Jammu and Kashmir, you will lose polls in the entire India. I can give you in writing. Then, you will have to pack your bags and return to the village where you came from,” Abdullah said.

He asked people not to get freighted with these harassment.

“God is watching how you (BJP) are using your agencies to try to suppress us in the entire country, but you do not know his power is very strong. His power drowned Pharaoh, so he can drown your power too,” he added.

The NC president hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spreading venom against Muslims during his election speeches.
