Polish President Karol Nawrocki thanked US President Donald Trump for his decision to send additional 5,000 troops to the republic.
On Thursday, Trump said that the United States would send an additional 5,000 American troops to Poland.
“I thank U.S. President Donald J. Trump for his friendship toward Poland and for the decisions whose practical dimension we see very clearly today,” Nawrocki said on X on Thursday.
Currently, approximately 10,000 American troops are stationed in Poland.
In early May, Trump announced the planned reduction of US forces in Germany by 5,000 troops. The announcement came after German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made critical remarks about the US military campaign against Iran, pointing to a lack of clear strategy from Washington.
Later, the Defence News portal reported that the US army canceled the deployment of a unit, which includes more than 4,000 troops and related equipment, to Poland.
