Srinagar: Amid some incidents of clashes between protesters and security forces, complete shutdown was observed Wednesday in Pulwama district for the second consecutive day against the killing of two militants in Drabgam in Pulwama.

Huge contingent of Police and CRPF was deployed in two towns of Pulwama and Shopian to thwart any protests.
In Prichoo near Pulwama, clashes broke out between protesting youth and police after a police van carrying prisoners to a local court was pelted with stones.
Eyewitnesses said the windowpanes of the van were smashed with stones, and the prisoners had a narrow escape.
Later, police called in more reinforcement and fired teargas shells to disperse the agitated youth and take the prisoners to the court. Minor stone pelting was also reported in Dalipora area of the Pulwama town, the said.
Two militants, Afaq Ahmad Bhat of Kareemabad and Abdul Manan Dar of Amerbugh Shopian were killed in an encounter with army and police in Drubgam in Pulwama.
Afaq was studying in fourth semester in Islamic Studies department in the university and had joined Hizbul Mujahideen seven months ago. (KNS)
