Rajouri Killing: J&K Police announces Rs 10 Lakh reward for info on terrorists involved

A day after one person was killed and his brother suffered injuries in a terrorist attack in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday have announced Rs 10 lakh reward for information on the involvement of terrorist(s) in the incident.


Official sources said that Police have announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any information leading to the identification and capture of the terrorist identified involved in the heinous killing of a man, a government employee and a brother of TA jawan.


They added that the reward has been announced for the terrorist identified as Abu Hamza for his involvement in terror activities, including the killing of Mohammad Razaq in Kunda village of Rajouri on Monday evening.


Notably, father of the deceased identified as Mohammad Akbar was also a victim of terrorism as his throat was slit by the terrorists in the year 2003.


Razaq was appointed in the Social Welfare Department on compassionate grounds after his father’s killing and was working as a Junior Assistant.


ADGP Jammu conducted Security Review Meeting at Rajouri


The Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Anand Jain on Tuesday also undertook a visit to Rajouri to oversee and reinforce security measures in Rajouri ahead of Lok Sabha elections for Rajouri-Anantnag seat in the Phase-III scheduled on May 7.


Jain conducted a security review meeting at Rajouri which was attended by key stakeholders including senior police officials, served as a platform to assess the existing security landscape and strategize for enhanced vigilance.


He was briefed about the security measures put in place to tackle any untoward incident across the Rajouri-Poonch districts as well as Jammu Province. Discussions revolved around various aspects of security, encompassing threat assessments, countermeasures, and collaborative efforts among security agencies.


It was stressed to maintain surveillance in the area by all stakeholders in wake of forthcoming election in the area to prevent any action by Anti-National Elements stating that there is an urgent need to leverage technology for the identification of terror networks and also stress was laid on use of data analytics for enhancing functional efficiency.
