Salman Khan house firing case: Accused found hanging in Mumbai police lockup

Anuj Thapan, one of two arms suppliers in the case of alleged firing outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s house in western suburb of Bandra, died after an alleged suicide attempt in the Mumbai Police lockup, officials said here on Wednesday.

The incident occurred this afternoon at the Crime Branch lockup in south Mumbai, where accused Thapan (32) was lodged.

Thapan, who was on Monday remanded into police custody till May eight by a special MCOCA Judge, was found hanging inside his cell with the help of a bedsheet.

He was rushed to the nearby St George’s Hospital in a critical condition, but he was declared dead before admission.

Thapan, along with Sonu Bishnoi, was arrested from Punjab on April 25 for allegedly providing arms and ammunition used for the pre-dawn firing outside Salman Khan’s Bandra home on April 14.
