India will resume their second innings after the lunch break on Day 5 of the second Test against Bangladesh on Tuesday, requiring just 95 runs to secure a victory and complete a 2-0 series sweep.
Bangladesh, after posting a first innings total of 233, saw India declare their first innings at 285 for 9, establishing a crucial 52-run lead.
In their second innings, Bangladesh faced a formidable Indian bowling attack, with only two batsmen crossing the 30-run mark. Shadman Islam emerged as the top scorer, making a gritty 50 runs off 101 balls, while Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 37 runs from 63 deliveries.
Jasprit Bumrah shone with the ball, claiming three wickets for just 17 runs in his ten overs, including the key wicket of Rahim, who fell to a slower off-cutter just before lunch. Ravindra Jadeja also played a pivotal role, taking three wickets for 34 runs, dismissing notable batsmen Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das for single-digit scores.
The turning point came with the dismissal of Najmul Hossain Shanto, who fell for 19, triggering a collapse from 91 for 3 to all out for 146.
With a modest target of 95 runs, India’s openers have 62 overs to chase down the total. The batting lineup, featuring several in-form players, is keen to wrap up the match quickly while remaining wary of a determined Bangladeshi bowling attack looking to create opportunities.
