Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday chaired a meeting of senior party leaders at her residence on the Srinagar outskirts to discuss party functioning and the prevailing political situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
A party spokesman said the meeting at Khimber was attended by PDP vice president Mohammad Sartaj Madni, parliamentary board chairman Abdul Rahim Veeri, general secretary (organisation) Ghulam Nabi Hanjura, chief spokesperson Mehboob Beg and senior leaders including Naeem Akhtar, Basharat Bukhari, Mansoor Hussain and Yasir Reshi. Three party legislators Rafiq Ahmad Naik, Fayaz Ahmad Mir and Waheed Parra also attended the meeting.
“The meeting discussed party functioning and recent political developments in Jammu and Kashmir,” the spokesman said.
The meeting comes amid heightened political activity in Jammu and Kashmir following a series of confrontations between the ruling National Conference and the PDP over issues including the AIIMS Awantipora project, governance, and public accountability.
The PDP has been criticising the Omar Abdullah-led government, accusing it of failure to address key public concerns.
