Virat Kohli climbs to fourth in ICC ODI batting rankings after Ranchi century

India star Virat Kohli has moved up to fourth place in the latest ICC Men’s Player Rankings for ODI batters following his match-winning century against South Africa in Ranchi. The innings helped India secure a crucial victory and brought Kohli closer to the top spot among the world’s leading ODI batsmen.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC) website, Kohli, who struck a superb 135 off 120 balls in the opening ODI, improved his rating to 751 points, placing him just 32 points behind top-ranked Rohit Sharma.

The 37-year-old moved past teammate Shubman Gill to continue his pursuit of the No.1 ranking, which he last held in April 2021 before being overtaken by Pakistan’s Babar Azam.

Rohit increased his lead at the top on second-placed Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran in third, with Kohli moving past teammate Shubman Gill and into fourth to make inroads on the former India captain at the top.

India also received a boost in the bowling charts as left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav climbed one spot to sixth among ODI bowlers.

In T20Is, Pakistan’s Saim Ayub reclaimed the No.1 ranking for all-rounders following his all-round performance in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka. Ayub scored 36 and picked up a key wicket to move past Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.

Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed (up four places to fourth) and Mohammad Nawaz (up two places to 11th) also made gains in the T20I bowling rankings, with Nawaz rising to fourth among all-rounders after being named Player of the Tournament.

Sri Lanka’s Kamil Mishara made one of the biggest jumps in the T20I batting list, climbing from outside the top 100 to 18th after scoring 169 runs in the tri-series.

Bangladesh’s Parvez Hossain Emon (up 21 places to 38th), Towhid Hridoy (up to 42nd), and Mustafizur Rahman (up to eighth among bowlers) also improved following their home series win over Ireland.

South Africa dominated the Test rankings update after their 2-0 series sweep over India. Left-arm seamer Marco Jansen rose five places to a career-best fifth among Test bowlers and also climbed to second among all-rounders.

Off-spinner Simon Harmer, the Player of the Series with 17 wickets, leapt 13 places to 11th.

In the Test batting charts, South Africans Kyle Verreynne (38th), Ryan Rickelton (39th), and Tristan Stubbs (47th) all recorded significant upward movement.
