‘Wake Against Growing Drug Menace in Kashmir’

Srinagar: A one day workshop on concerns related to rise in drug abuse amongst youth was organized under the aegis of Director General Ayush at the proposed centre for addiction medicines (CAM) at ISM today.drugs

Doctors and medical students from KTC and Institute of Asian Medical Sciences participated in the programme.

SP West Paramvir presided over as the chief guest and in-charge medical superintendent ISM Dr. Javid, Dr.Ruhail (CAM) were also present on the occasion.

Then incharge programme Dr Inayat in his address said that the maximum effectiveness in de-addiction services can be obtained by following the Bio psychosocial model of intervention.     

Much of therapeutic nihilism associated with Drug Abuse is related to the delays in help seeking and help providing & Prevention of relapse is crucial for control of substance abuse disorder, he said.

He said information on substance abuse in India is mostly anecdotal with scarcity of data and reports available only from small-scale surveys.

He said that it is important in Indian scenario to explore the different factors related with drug abuse.

“Aim of holistic management of drug abuse is to make the clients in sustainable period of drug free state. It has been observed that repeated relapse is common among drug abusers and role of AYUSH system cannot be ignored,” Inayat said. 

However, on the occasion, Dr Mir Javid and Dr Ruhail also informed the attendants on Basic Life Support as first community responders to emergencies and Tibb-e-Nabwi. During the threadbare discussion, the soaring drug abuse in the society has been termed alarmed and collectively they urged people at level to spread awareness against eh growing menace.
